Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about CCTV systems, cable management, remote mobile monitoring, and annual maintenance contracts.

📹 Hardware Selection & Camera Types
What is the difference between IP Cameras and Analog HD Cameras?
+
Analog HD systems transmit video signals over coaxial cables to a DVR. They are cost-effective, straightforward, and reliable for standard properties. IP systems convert video to digital data directly inside the camera and transmit over CAT6 ethernet cable to an NVR. IP cameras deliver higher resolutions (up to 4K/8MP), superior dynamic range, intelligent AI detection (human/vehicle classification), and can share existing IT network infrastructure.
Do CCTV cameras record clearly in total darkness?
+
Yes. Modern security cameras come equipped with infrared (IR) night vision LEDs that illuminate the scene invisibly to the human eye, capturing clear monochrome footage. Additionally, Starlight / ColorVu sensor models can capture full-color night video even under minimal ambient street or porch lighting.
What happens to camera recordings during a power cut?
+
If connected to standard mains power, cameras will pause recording during an outage. However, we strongly recommend connecting your DVR/NVR and camera power supply to an inverter or dedicated CCTV UPS. This maintains uninterrupted 24/7 recording throughout typical grid power failures.
🛠️ Installation, Cabling & Setup
How are the cables installed? Will they look untidy?
+
Never. Professional aesthetics are a cornerstone of our service. All wiring is routed through rigid PVC or metal conduit piping, false ceilings, or cable channels with neat clips. We avoid dangling wires and ensure all camera junction boxes are weather-sealed and concealed.
How long does a standard CCTV installation take?
+
A standard 4 to 8 camera residential or small office setup is typically completed in 1 to 2 working days. Larger commercial facilities, multi-story buildings, or complex underground trenching projects may take 3 to 7 days depending on site cable routing complexity.
📱 Mobile Viewing & Remote Access
Do I need internet for CCTV cameras to record?
+
No. The CCTV cameras record locally onto the DVR/NVR hard drive 24/7 without requiring any internet connection. An active internet connection is only needed when you want to view the live video feeds or search recordings remotely from your smartphone or laptop away from the property.
Can multiple family members or staff view cameras on their phones?
+
Yes. The system administrator can grant access to multiple authorized family members or staff members. You can also assign permission levels (for instance, allowing some users to view live streams without granting permissions to delete recordings or modify camera settings).
💾 Storage & Annual Maintenance (AMC)
How many days of backup does a surveillance hard disk provide?
+
Storage duration depends on the number of cameras, recording resolution, and encoding method. With modern H.265+ compression, a 4-camera setup with a 2TB hard disk typically retains 20 to 30 days of continuous recording. When the hard disk becomes full, it automatically overwrites the oldest footage seamlessly.
What is included in a CCTV AMC contract?
+
Our AMC contracts include regular scheduled preventive visits (camera lens cleaning, refocusing, cable inspection, power supply voltage verification, and hard disk health checks) plus priority breakdown response whenever an unexpected camera or recording fault occurs.
